About Me

Greetings,

My name is Florian Alfidio Mtilega and I am from Iringa, Tanzania. I was nine years old when I noticed I enjoyed helping my fellow students who struggled in class, and in that the golden moment I realized, I wanted to be a teacher.

After graduating from college my initial experience in education started with the Iringa International School in 2017, as a Teacher Assistant. The experience was so wonderful that I pursued full teaching certification and went through an intense IB training. In 2018, I began my teaching career as a preschool teacher. Currently I teach Kiswahili, History and Geography from grades PreK – 10.

As a teacher I feel my greatest strength lies in my ability and willingness to understand and meet the individual needs of students. My classes and approach to teaching is student-centered, because it allows for students to take ownership of their learning, which promotes engagement.

When I’m not teaching, I’m actively engaged in having fun with both primary and secondary students in the sport of football, by way of my after school sponsored club.

Karibu (Welcome to) Iringa International School.
